Trademark 07

LOS ANGELES — A water pipe manufacturer has filed suit against a tobacco shop for allegedly selling counterfeit products.

Sream Inc. filed a complaint Sept. 7 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Majida Haroun, also known as Majida Peret, doing business as The Tobacco Shop, and Does 1-10, alleging that they sell counterfeit copies of the plaintiff's products.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Sream Inc. suffered damages to its business and reputation. The plaintiff holds Majida Haroun, also known as Majida Peret, and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly advertised and offered for sale water pipes that bear the plaintiff's trademark.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks the defendant's profits and statutory damages of up to $2,000,000, damages sustained by the plaintiff, restitution, to enjoin the defendant from further infringing upon the plaintiff's trademark, treble damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Imran F. Vakil of Nexio PC in Costa Mesa.
