RIVERSIDE – A Victorville restaurant is facing a suit from several owners of copyrighted music alleging their songs were performed without a license.
Broadcast Music Inc.; Sony/ATV Songs LLC, doing business as Sony/ATV Acuff Rose Music; E.O. Smith Music; Songs of Universal Inc.; Escatawpa Songs; Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp.; et al. filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Eastern Division against Craig Sports LLC, doing business as Gators Sports Bar & Grill; William Allen Craig; Heather Lynn Craig; Kenneth Michael Craig; and Donald Chris Hall citing copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages from having their compositions used in public performance without their permission. They allege they have contacted the defendant more than 30 times since April 2015 about obtaining a license to perform their music. The plaintiffs holds Craig Sports LLC, doing business as Gators Sports Bar & Grill; William Allen Craig; Heather Lynn Craig; Kenneth Michael Craig; and Donald Chris Hall responsible because the defendants allegedly used plaintiff's compositions for public performance despite plaintiff's requests to cease using them.
The plaintiffs seek enjoin the defendants from further infringing plaintiffs' compositions, pay statutory damages to plaintiffs, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Jeffrey W. Kramer and Annmarie Mori of Troygould PC in Los Angeles.
