SACRAMENTO – A former bail agent has filed a class-action suit over allegations he was not properly compensated for overtime.
Adam Van Ulten filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Oct. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Abba Bail Bonds Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during two periods in May 2015 and 2016, he worked for more than 40 hours without getting paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Abba Bail Bonds Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime premiums at a rate of time-and-one-half to plaintiff for working more than 40 hours per week.
The plaintiff seeks unpaid wages; actual, consequential and liquidated damages; restitution; interest; all legal fees; and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by David D. Deason and Matthew F. Archbold of Deason & Archbold in Huntington Beach.
