LOS ANGELES – A woman has filed a class-action suit against her former employer over allegations of illegal payroll practices.
Jessica Jung filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Oct. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Essex Property Trust Inc. and Does 1 through 50 alleging violation of California Labor Code.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for the defendant without being fairly paid, was not provided itemized wage statements or given adequate meal breaks.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, restitution, disgorgement, liquidated damages, to enjoin the defendant, interest for the unpaid wages at 10 percent per annum, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just.
