LOS ANGELES – A Foothill Ranch company is accusing a Santa Ana direct response marketing company of cybersquatting.
LoanDepot.com LLC filed a complaint on Dec. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Cowboy Direct Response Inc., doing business as Synergy Direct Response, and Does 1 through 10 citing the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it owns the registration for domain names loandepot.com and my.loandepot.com. The suit states Synergy previously provided services to the plaintiff and has registered the names myloandepot.com, loandepotfha.com and loandepotva.com. The plaintiff alleges the defendant refuses to return the domain names unless the plaintiff resumed marking services with it.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant, transfer the domain names to the plaintiff, actual damages, compensatory, consequential, statutory, exemplary and punitive damages, treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
