LOS ANGELES – The federal government claims an Orange County resident owes more than $78,000 for a student loan.
United States of America filed a complaint on Dec. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Jeffrey P. Brooks alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt with the plaintiff.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Brooks failed to pay the principal amount of his debt plus interest.
The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $78,213.91 plus interest of $28,987.28 with interest accruing thereafter at 3.375 percent per annum, and all legal fees. It is represented by Kathryn E. Van Houten of Irsfeld, Irsfeld & Younger LLP in Glendale.
