Woman alleges Lincoln National Corp., others breached contract regarding disability benefits

LOS ANGELES – A woman alleges her insurer improperly reduced her disability benefits.

Cheri Craig filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Lincoln National Corp., Lincoln Financial Group, The Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in September 2013, she became disabled due to having a heart attack and was paid short-term benefits but was only paid partial long-term disability benefits. The plaintiffs holds Lincoln National Corp., Lincoln Financial Group, The Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendants allegedly improperly reduced the total benefits plaintiff was entitled to receive.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of $8,490.73, punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Ronald Dean in Pacific Palisades.
