LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County consumer has filed a class-action lawsuit against a debt collector over its alleged collection calls.

Melanie Teller filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Monterey Financial Services and Does 1-10 citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in December 2015, she began receiving calls from the defendant and asked it to stop calling her. The plaintiff holds Monterey Financial Services and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly kept on calling plaintiff despite plaintiff's request to stop calling her and used an automated telephone dialing system.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 statutory damages, $1,500 as treble damages and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon, Meghan E. George of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Woodland Hills.
