LOS ANGELES – A textile converter alleges two California companies unlawfully used one of its designs in garments without authorization.
Neman Bros. & Assoc. Inc. filed a complaint on Jan. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Cann Studio Inc.; Cornerstone Apparel Inc., doing business as Papaya Clothing; and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having its NB101122-R design copied and used without permission. The plaintiff holds Cann Studio Inc., Cornerstone Apparel Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured garments made out of fabrics that bear plaintiff's designs.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees plus interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by C. Yong Jeong, Amy J. Choe and Ryan N. Ostrowski of Jeong & Likens LC in Los Angeles.
