LOS ANGELES – A Big Bear Lake business is accused of performing musical compositions without a license.
Broadcast Music Inc., Beechwood Music Corp., Tyler Joseph Music LLC et al. filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Eastern Division against Wrightwood Inn Inc., doing business as AV Nightclub, and Leo Van Kampen alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege they suffered damages to their business from having their musical compositions used without authority. The plaintiffs holds Wrightwood Inn Inc. and Kampen responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to respond to the plaintiffs correspondence for an offer to purchase a license from them in order to be able to use their musical compositions for public performances.
The plaintiffs seek enjoin the defendants from further infringing plaintiffs' copyrights, pay statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Jeffrey W. Kramer and Annmarie Mori of Troygould PC in Los Angeles.
