American General Life Insurance Co. of Delaware alleged to have failed to pay benefits

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County man claims that after the reinstatement of his benefits, his insurer has failed to resume the payments.

Jerry Valentine filed a complaint on Feb. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against American General Life Insurance Co. of Delaware, American International Group Inc. and Does 1-10 citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, he became disabled and was initially being paid disability benefits until his claim was terminated. The decision was later reversed in October 2016 and arrears were paid. The plaintiff holds American General Life Insurance Co. of Delaware, American International Group Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly have failed to resume paying the benefits and failed to reinstate waiver of premiums for life insurance.

The plaintiff seeks all benefits due to him, declare that he is entitled to all benefits for as long as he remains disabled, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Charles J. Fleishman and Paul A. Fleishman of The Fleishman Law Firm in Woodland Hills.
