Intri-Plex Technologies Inc. alleges companies unlawfully used patented hard disk drive mount

Patents 01

SAN FRANCISCO – A Santa Barbara corporation alleges its patented technology was used without authorization.

Intri-Plex Technologies Inc. filed a complaint on March 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against NHK International Corp.; NHK Spring Co. LTD; Ogaki Seiko Co. LTD and Seiko High Tec Corp. alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it owns U.S. Patent No. 6,183,841 titled Optimized Low Profile Swage Mount Base Plate Attachment of Suspension Assembly for Hard Disk Drive. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly sell hard disk drive products that feature the swage mounts, which infringes at least one claim of the plaintiff's '841 patent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction against the defendants, damages, lost profits, treble damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Jeffrey E. Ostrow, Jason M. Bussey and Michael H. Joshi of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in Palo Alto.
