LOS ANGELES – A Southern California roofers, waterproofers and allied industry employer is alleged to owe several hundred thousand dollars to labor union funds.

Brent Beasley, Ernest Glasgow, Cliff Smith, Greg Banks, trustees of the Union roofers supplemental annuity trust, Union Roofers Health & Welfare Fund, et al. filed a complaint on March 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Alcala Co. Inc. and Does 1 through 10 citing the Labor-Management Relations Act and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages due to unpaid and late paid contribution. The plaintiffs hold Alcala Co. Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly breached its bargaining agreement with the plaintiff by failing to pay contribution on behalf of their employees.

The plaintiffs seek contributions in the sum of $426,733.17, liquidated damages at 10 percent, audit costs, interest at the rate of 7 percent per annum, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Jodi Siegner of DeCarlo & Shanley in Los Angeles.
