Urban Outfitters Inc. accused of using infringing lace design in garments

LOS ANGELES – A New York corporation alleges a retailer doing business in California unlawfully used its copyrighted lace design.

Klauber Brothers Inc. filed a complaint on March 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Urban Outfitters Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having its lace design No. 608 being copied. The plaintiff holds Urban Outfitters Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly made illegal reproductions and/or derivations of plaintiff's designs for use in clothing.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant, all profits, monetary advantages, statutory damages, profits and damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Scott Alan Burroughs, Trevor W. Barrett and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
