Coachella Valley Water District accuses Doxo of unlawfully using mark

Trademark 08

LOS ANGELES – A government agency in Riverside County claims a Seattle online bill payment service is unlawfully using its name.

Coachella Valley Water District filed a complaint on March 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Doxo Inc. and Does 1-10 alleging trademark infringement and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants used the plaintiff's name on its website in connection with a bill paying service. The plaintiff holds Doxo Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants are allegedly likely to deceive plaintiff's customers by using plaintiff's Coachella Valley Water District mark to advertise its service.

The plaintiff seeks to enjoin the defendant, provide the plaintiff a complete list of all transaction using plaintiff's mark, disgorge and pay the plaintiff all profits, damages, legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by G. Henry Welles of Best Best & Krieger LLP in Indian Wells.
