Woman alleges Metropolitan Life denied benefits despite meeting criteria

Insurance 04

SAN FRANCISCO – A former Kaiser Hospital employee alleges her claim for disability benefits was unlawfully denied.

Astrid Angolini filed a complaint on March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2016, she became disabled and applied for benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny plaintiff's claim for disability benefits despite her meeting all of the criteria.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by P. Randall Noah of Law Offices of P. Randall Noah in Orinda.
