Anefx alleged to have failed to pay contributions to Motion Picture Industry funds

LOS ANGELES – A Burbank business is alleged to owe more than $200,000 to labor union funds.

Board of directors of the Motion Picture Industry Pension Plan; et al. filed a complaint on April 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Anefx Inc. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Labor Management Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages due to unpaid and late paid contributions. The plaintiffs hold Anefx Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly breached their memorandum agreement with the plaintiff due to unpaid contributions.

The plaintiffs seek unpaid contributions of $237,176.47, $9,645.16 in unpaid contributions owed to the employee shareholder agreement, interest, liquidated damages at 20 percent of the amount contributions due, audit costs of $13,875, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Kathryn J. Halford, Elizabeth Rosenfeld and Nicholas I. Starkman of Wohlner Kaplon Cutler Halford & Rosenfeld in Encino.
