LOS ANGELES – A San Bruno corporation that creates and sells tax preparation instructional books alleges its materials are unlawfully being copied and sold.
Passkey Publications Licensing Corp. filed a complaint on April 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against COED Group LLC, Kapli Inc., Plus Career Inc. and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business. The plaintiff holds COED Group LLC, Kapli Inc., Plus Career Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly made extensive copies of plaintiff's "EA Review" and sold it to their students.
The plaintiff seeks profits, actual damages, injunction against the defendants, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Lawrence G. Townsend and Linda Joy Kattwinkel of Owen, Wickersham & Erickson PC in San Francisco.
