LOS ANGELES – Star Fabrics alleges that its fabric designs were unlawfully copied and reproduced.
Star Fabrics Inc. filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against J&K Clothing Inc.; Reference; Yunity Inc., doing business as Signature 8; and Does 1 through 10 citing copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having its fabric designs copied. The plaintiff holds J&K Clothing Inc.; Reference; Yunity Inc., doing business as Signature 8; and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold or manufactured garments made out of fabrics that feature plaintiff's No. 62805 design.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, profits, damages, statutory damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs, and Howard S. Han of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
