LOS ANGELES – A New Jersey company is alleged to have unlawfully used a Los Angeles County corporation's textile design.
United Fabrics International Inc. filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Ascena Retail Group Inc. and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having its designs copied. The plaintiff holds Ascena Retail Group Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured and supplied materials that feature plaintiff's copyrighted 8187-Santana design.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, profits, statutory damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A Burroughs and Trevor W. Barrett of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
