LOS ANGELES – Star Fabrics claims four of its textile designs were used without authorization for fabrics and clothing.
Star Fabrics Inc. filed a complaint on April 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Cornerstone Apparel Inc., doing business as Papaya; Rhapsody Clothing Inc.; Latulle Corp.; Chocolate USA; Jane Victor Dresses; and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having four of its copyrighted designs copied. The plaintiff holds Cornerstone Apparel Inc., doing business as Papaya; Rhapsody Clothing Inc.; Latulle Corp.; Chocolate USA; Jane Victor Dresses; and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold or manufactured garments or fabrics that feature plaintiff's designs without authorization.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs, and Howard S. Han of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
