Woman seeks short-term disability benefits from Prudential Insurance Co. of America

SAN FRANCISCO – A Las Vegas woman alleges that her application for short-term disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Maria Soper filed a complaint on May 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against The Prudential Insurance Co. of America, SVB Financial Group Short Term Disability Plan and SVB Financial Group citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she applied for short-term disability benefits but was denied by Prudential. The plaintiff holds The Prudential Insurance Co. of America, SVB Financial Group Short Term Disability Plan and SVB Financial Group responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to pay benefits due to the plaintiff despite having sufficient medical proof to support her claim.

The plaintiff seeks pay all benefits to the plaintiff plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Cassie Springer Ayeni and Claire Kennedy-Wilkins of Springer Ayeni in Oakland.
