Passenger files suit against Princess Cruise Lines after injuring hip on ship

Cruise 04

SAN FRANCISCO – A San Luis Obispo County man alleges he did not receive adequate medical treatment when he was injured while on a cruise.

George Stephans filed a complaint on May 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Princess Cruise Lines LTD and Swasthi Singh, M.D. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a passenger on the Island Princess on Dec. 9, 2015, and was injured when he tripped and fell over ropes and stanchions in his path. The suit states he was examined by Singh, who concluded that he had a strained quadricep and did not order any diagnostic tests or X-rays. The plaintiff sought treatment after he returned him and was hospitalized to treat the hip injury, which later needed replaced, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds Princess Cruise Lines LTD and Singh responsible because Singh allegedly failed to properly and adequately examine the plaintiff while on board the vessel and failed to warn him of a hazardous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks general damages, interest, medical and incidental expenses, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Christopher W. Goodroe of The Law Offices of C.W. Goodroe in Oakland.
