LOS ANGELES – An artist known for his street art alleges Target copied one of his designs for clothing without authorization.
Raul Torres filed a complaint on May 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against the Target Corp., Target Brands Inc. and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff is an artist and produces works under the pseudonym Hektad and created the piece "Love is Power" in 2016. The plaintiff holds Target Corp., Target Brands Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly copied plaintiff's artwork and incorporated them on the garments they are selling without his authorization.
The plaintiff seeks all damages, all legal fees, interest, enjoin the defendant, order the defendants to recall and remove all infringing advertisements, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jeffrey S. Gluck of Gluck Law Firm P.C. in Los Angeles.
