Man alleges Prudential Insurance wrongfully terminated disability benefits

Insurance 01

LOS ANGELES – A former employee of Zia Engineering and Environment Consultants alleges that his disability benefits were wrongfully terminated by his insurer.

John Mills filed a complaint on June 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against The Prudential Insurance Co. of America citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he became disabled and applied for disability benefits and was approved, but his benefits were denied in January 2016. The plaintiff holds The Prudential Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly ignored the opinions of plaintiff's physicians.

The plaintiff seeks award benefits to the plaintiff plus interest, future disability benefits, all legal fees, and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Frank N. Darras, Susan B. Grabarsky and Phillip S. Bather of Darras Law in Ontario.
