Portfolio Recovery Associates faces suit from four consumers over collection calls

SANTA ANA – Four California women have filed a suit against a debt collector over allegations that it called them without their consent.

Tamara Morris, Mary Russell, Desire Valdez and Inna Badran filed a complaint on June 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Southern Division against Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC and Does 1-10 alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages from receiving several collection calls from the defendant. The plaintiffs holds Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly continued to call after the plaintiffs instructed them to stop calling.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Tammy Hussin of Hussin Law Firm in Encinitas.
