U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs Northern California Health Care System accused of professional negligence

SACRAMENTO – A Sacramento County man alleges he has been permanently injured because of the negligent care he received at a VA hospital.

Shawnee Hannah and Bonnie Hannah filed a complaint on June 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against United States of America; U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs Northern California Health Care System/Sacramento VA Medical Center, et al. alleging professional negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, Shawnee Hannah sought treatment from the Sacramento U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in May 2015. He alleges that infection was introduced during this injection and spread to the heart and meninges.

The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because their alleged negligence and carelessness in treating and/or failing to treat the plaintiff caused permanent quadriplegia. Bonnie Hannah alleges a loss of consortium.

The plaintiffs seek general damages, special, medical and incidental expenses, general damages, lost profits, treble and exemplary damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Whitney A. Davis of K.W. Davis, Attorneys at Law in Sacramento.
