LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles company that owns the copyrights of two musical compositions allege that they were infringed on a rap song.
Immediate Music LLC filed a complaint on June 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Michael Ray Stevenson, professionally known as Tyga; Last Kings Records; UMG Recordings; and Empire Distribution alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that its compositions "Lacrimosa Dominae" and "Ode to Power" were used on Stevenson's track "10 Million $ Mortgage."
The plaintiff holds Stevenson, Last Kings Records, UMG Recordings and Empire Distribution responsible because the defendants allegedly used the plaintiff's work without authorization.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, payment of actual damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Alan S. Gutman and John Juenger of Gutman Law in Beverly Hills.
