Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. alleges UA 16747 design was unlawfully used

LOS ANGELES – A New York company and a Texas company are accused of unlawfully using a fabric design.

Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. filed a complaint on June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Mark Edwards Apparel Inc., Francesca's Collections Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having its UA 16747 design copied. The plaintiff holds Mark Edwards Apparel Inc., Francesca's Collections Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold or manufactured garments made out of fabrics that bear plaintiff's design.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
