Insurance 07

LOS ANGELES – A San Bernardino County woman alleges that her insurer breached a contract by denying her disability benefits.

Yesenia Verdin filed a complaint on June 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Prudential Insurance Co. of America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled from her occupation as a mortgage closer funder in November 2013. The suit states the defendant paid long-term disability benefits until February 2015 and denied further payments. The plaintiff holds Prudential Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly unreasonably denied her benefit claim.

The plaintiff seeks payment of long term disability benefits at the rate of $3,300, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Bernard R. Schwam of Law Office of Bernard R. Schwam in Encino.
