Internet advertising company accused of violating phone privacy laws

LOS ANGELES — A California woman has filed a class action lawsuit against a Pennsylvania Internet advertising company, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Suzanne Knorr of Newbury Park filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, July 19 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Elocal USA LLC of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, alleging the defendant illegally sent a number of unsolicited text messages to the plaintiff's cellular telephone, violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, Knoor suffered damages from receiving several unwanted text messages because Elocal USA illegally sent the messages using an automatic telephone dialing system.

Knorr seeks trial by jury, actual monetary loss of $500 for each violation, disgorgement, injunction against the defendant, interest, legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attonrey Afshin Siman of Los Angeles and Blake J. Dugger of Law Offices of Stefan Coleman PA in Phoenix.
