Tenants accuse property owner of negligence

SAN FRANCISCO — Two tenants are suing a property owner, alleging intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and tortious interference.

Roger Hanson and Craig Udit filed a complaint April 21 in San Francisco County Superior Court against Mitsuko Kinman, individually and as trustee of the Kinman Family Living Trust, and Does 1 though 10, alleging the property owner failed to address all numerous complaints regarding the habitability of the property at 122 Langston St., made by the plaintiffs.

According to the complaint, Hanson and Udit suffered damages from being forced to move out from the property due to its poor condition. The plaintiffs allege the defendants harassed the plaintiffs in order to force them out of the property by increasing their rent by $200 per month and suggesting they could "move out" if they did not want to pay rent.

Hanson and Udit seek general damages, special damages, all legal fees, economic damages, statutory damages, and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Joseph S. Tobener and Julia O. Wobbe of Tobener Ravenscroft LLP in San Francisco.
