LOS ANGELES — A California corporation is suing a home products business, alleging patent infringement.

U.S. Merchants Financial Group Inc. filed a complaint Aug. 9 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Home Products International North America Inc. alleging the defendant manufactured a product that infringes on the plaintiff's design patent for plastic packaging and container products.

According to the complaint, U.S. Merchants Financial suffered damages to its business as the result of its design patent being infringed and copied. The plaintiff alleges Home Products manufactured and sold a similar black bin that infringes upon the plaintiff's design patent.

U.S. Merchants Financial seeks to enjoin the defendant from further infringing the plaintiff's patents, damages, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney David B. Abel of Law Office of David B. Abel in Manhattan Beach.
