Software service provider accuses competitor of copyright infringement

SAN FRANCISCO — A California software service provider corporation is suing competitors, alleging copyright infringement.

AutoOpt Networks Inc. filed a complaint Aug. 15 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Vijay Karani, Mobile Terrace, Inc., Gnanenthiran Jayanthan, alleging they illegally copied and sold copies of the plaintiff's software without its consent.

According to the complaint, AutoOpt Networks suffered damages from having its software copied and sold without consent. The plaintiff alleges the defendants made unauthorized copies of the plaintiff's AutOOpt software.

AutoOpt Networks seeks trial by jury, actual damages, statutory damages up to $150,000 for willful copyright infringement, between $2,500 and $25,000 for each violation, legal fees and all other relief the court deems just.
