LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles County doctor has has filed a class action lawsuit against a physicians group, alleging unpaid wages, violation of applicable minimum wage laws and violation of workers compensation acts.
Dr. Michael Giuffrida filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of other persons similarly situated, Aug. 14 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Aesthetic Physicians of California Inc., Body Contour Centers LLC, doing business as Sono Belle and Does 1 through 100, alleging they failed to pay fair wages in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, Giuffrida worked 2012 through 2017 more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime wages by the defendants. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay minimum wages to Giuffrida or provide adequate meal and rest breaks.
Giuffrida seeks trial by jury, overtime and double time wages, interest, legal fees, statutory penalties and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorneys Daniel J. Palay and Brian D. Hefelfinger of Palay Hefelfinger APC in Ventura, California.
