Consumer alleges Washington state company violated phone privacy law

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles County woman is suing a Washington state company, citing alleged violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Mei Ma filed a complaint Aug. 17 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Receivables Performance Management, LLC  and Does 1-10, alleging they illegally called the plaintiff several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, on March 15, Ma suffered damages from receiving several collection calls. The plaintiff alleges the defendants kept calling her on her cellphone, illegally  using an automatic dialing system despite her requests to stop.

Ma seeks trial by jury, $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in statutory damages, enjoin the defendant, $1,000 per violation of the Rosenthal Act, all legal fees, actual damages and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Nathaniel Clark of Law Offices of Scott Warmuth APC in City of Industry, California.
