Government alleges customer owes more than $14,000

SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. government is suing a California man, alleging breach of contract in failing to pay more than $14,000.

The United States of America filed a complaint Aug. 22 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Piyush P. Mehta, also known as Piyush Paul Mehta and Paul Mehta, alleging he failed to settle his debt to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the government suffered monetary damages due to the unpaid debt. The plaintiff alleges Mehta has failed to pay the principal amount of his debt plus interest.

The government seeks $14,182.81 plus interest and all legal fees in the amount of 33.33 percent of the debt. It is represented by attorney Michael Cosentino of Alameda, California.
