Washington D.C. company accuses competitor of copyright infringement

LOS ANGELES — A Washington D.C., company is suing a competitor, alleging copyright infringement.

Hahaas Comedy LLC filed a complaint Aug. 22 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Anthony Girgis, alleging the defendant sells ringtones derived from the the plaintiff's work.

According to the complaint, Hahaas Comedy has suffered damages from having its work copied without consent. The plaintiff alleges Girgis distributes ringtones that are confusingly similar to Hahaas' offerings.

Hahaas Comedy seeks trial by jury, seeks injunction, monetary damages, actual damages, profits, legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. It is represented by attorney M. Cris Armenta of The Armenta Law Firm APC in Manhattan Beach, California.
