SAN FRANCISCO — A San Francisco software company is suing a California business, alleging copyright infringement.

Silicon Valley Software Group, LLC filed a complaint on Sept. 1, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Rocket Fuel Inc. of Redwood City, California, alleging the defendant wrongfully claims ownership of the plaintiff's property.

According to the complaint, Silicon Valley Software suffered damages to its business as the result of its software being used without consent. The plaintiff alleges Rocket Fuel claims ownership of Silicon Valley Software's source code despite not having been contracted directly by the plaintiff.

Silicon Valley Software Group seeks trial by jury, seeks injunctive relief, all actual damages, general damages, special damages, exemplary and punitive damages, restitution, disgorgement, interest, legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. It is represented by attorney Jamin S. Soderstrom of Soderstrom Law PC in Irvine.
