SAN FRANCISCO — A hospital is suing a Salinas woman, alleging breach of contract and violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula as plan administrator of the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula Employee Healthcare Plan, filed a complaint Aug. 28 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Maria Sanchez, alleging she has failed and refused to turn over settlement funds of $350,000 as required by the plan.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered monetary damages because Sanchez, who sustained injuries in an automobile accident Feb. 1, 2015, has failed to return the reimbursement funds to Community Hospital.
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula seeks $350,000 plus interest, enjoin the defendant, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. It is represented by attorney Hector Salitrero of Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer SC in Orange, California.
