LOS ANGELES – A Cerritos grocery and liquor store is alleged to have failed to maintain a parking space for individuals with disabilities.

Pedro Jimenez filed a complaint on Aug. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against BK Casa Inc., doing business as Casa de Liquor Deli, and Does 1-10 alleging that they violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff uses a wheelchair and alleges that on April 18 and June 11, he went to defendant's business and encountered barriers that restricted his access to the facility.

The plaintiff holds BK Casa Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to maintain parking space designated for persons with disabilities.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order requiring defendants to comply with the acts, award of all appropriate damages, with interest attorney’s fees, expenses and costs and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Kevin Hong of Advanced Disability Advocates in Los Angeles.
