JP Morgan Chase's repeated phone calls for unpaid bills prompts lawsuit

LOS ANGELES — A couple is suing JP Morgan Chase & Co. for invasion of privacy, allegedly for repeat phone calls that caused aggravation, distress and interfered with their ability to use their cell phones.

Jose Raposo and Beverly Raposo filed a complaint on Aug. 16, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California Western Division, against the defendants alleging that they repeatedly violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

The plaintiffs allege that Jose Raposo and Beverly Raposo suffered frustration, aggravation, distress and interfered with their ability to use their cellular telephones in the manner in which they were intended. 

The plaintiffs hold JP Morgan Chase and does 1-10 responsible because despite being told to stop calling them, the defendant allegedly continued calling them on a daily basis and multiple times a day, beginning in the early mornings and throughout the evening hours.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek statutory damages of $500 for each negligent violation and treble damages $1,500 for every willful violation of the act and such other and further relief as may be just and proper.
