“In a time of rapidly evolving technologies, we are fortunate to find skilled and well-respected practitioners such as Scott to take us to a higher level in this dynamic area," said Ian C. Ballon, Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. “Scott’s addition to our team further widens the scope of services we offer our clients across a broad variety of industries.

Oliver handles patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret matters, blending creative legal strategies with comprehensive, digestible explanations of complex technology. He designs and implements individualized legal strategies tailored to each client’s unique business objectives. An experienced and highly technical litigator, Oliver has handled more than 150 matters and a dozen trials before both the International Trade Commission (ITC) and juries.

In addition to his litigation experience, Oliver advises clients on strategically growing and managing their intellectual property portfolios, guiding young companies through patent strategy, and consulting handset manufacturers and patent pools on the licensing of 802.11, 4G, 3G and LTE patents. Oliver earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from University of San Diego School of Law, and his A.B., cum laude, from Harvard University.

“I am excited to join an intellectual property litigation team of this caliber and play a role in the growth of the practice and the Silicon Valley office,” Oliver said. “I will continue to provide my clients excellent service, and I am confident that they will benefit from Greenberg Traurig’s global platform of resources.”
