Law

Polsinelli PAC issued the following announcement on Feb. 14.

The Los Angeles Business Journal has selected Carmen Cole, a Principal of Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli, as one of Los Angeles’ Most Influential Minority Attorneys. Cole is included among the prestigious group of diverse attorneys who were chosen based on their contributions in the field, professional achievements, and community involvement.

A high-profile labor and employment attorney, Cole represents several of California’s major employers as well as Fortune 500 companies with global operations. Her prior experience as an in-house human resource professional working on the client side of issues combined with her legal acumen has helped her build a reputation as a “go to” attorney for the resolution of client-specific, one-of-a-kind employment law disputes.

“Carmen is a skilled advocate and a recognized leader in labor and employment,” said Polsinelli Chairman and CEO Chase Simmons. “Her selection by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the Most Influential Minority Attorneys in Los Angeles is a testament not only to her ability to provide clients with innovative legal strategies that help them successfully navigate high-risk, complex employment law issues, but also to her commitment to create positive change in the legal sector. We are proud of her achievements and her dedication to diversity and inclusion both within our firm and across the profession.”

Cole was recently recognized as a Labor and Employment Star by Benchmark Litigation for 2019, a prestigious ranking of trial lawyers, intended to identify “the best and brightest law firms and partners who stand out in their labor and employment practices throughout the U.S.”

One of the nation’s highly accomplished African-American women lawyer shareholders, Cole is also committed to supporting the next generation of diverse attorneys. She is a founding member of the Pepperdine University School of Law Board of Advisors, a role that enables her to work to improve diversity recruitment, create inclusion, build community and increase retention of diverse students. Cole has been active for many years in the California Minority Counsel Program, an organization designed to create greater access for women and attorneys of color to potential clients and professional opportunities.

Cole also volunteers her time as part of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles Power Lunch program, introducing high school students in low income, high risk areas to professionals who have achieved careers in the legal profession. She has been instrumental in raising awareness and funds for the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce’s (GLAAAC) Education Fund & Foundation program which was established to respond to crisis-level dropout rates for African-American students. Cole serves as a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s President’s Advisory Committee on Women in the Legal Profession, and as a member of LACBA’s Diversity in the Profession Committee. In 2018, Cole was selected as a Minority Leader in the Law by the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
