GREENBERG TRAURIG: 4 Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Named 2019 “Top Lawyers” by Sacramento

Greenberg Traurig LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 1.

Four attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Sacramento office have been recognized on Sacramento prestigious “Top Lawyers” list for 2019: Kurt A. Kappes, Michelle Rowe Hallsten, James M. Nelson, and Jeremy A. Meier.

Open to all licensed attorneys in Sacramento, California, Sacramento Magazine’s “Top Lawyers” are selected by their peers for achievements in given legal specialties, according to the publication’s website. Nominees are then evaluated based on the survey results and their standing with the State Bar of California.

Kappes, recognized for “Business Litigation,” is co-managing shareholder of the Sacramento office and co-chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice’s Complex Employment Litigation & Trials Group. He has represented clients in many complex litigation cases involving class actions, commercial claims, trade secrets and employee mobility, computer fraud, non-compete, products liability, professional malpractice, insurance bad faith, qui tam actions, unfair competition, Business and Professions Code Section 17200 actions, and SOX proceedings.

Hallsten, selected for “Business/Corporate,” represents emerging and established companies in a variety of practice areas, including general corporate, securities, corporate governance, private debt and equity financings, angel and venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions. Her client base covers many industries, including technology, data storage, healthcare, insurance services, business services, life sciences, manufacturing, food and beverage, agribusiness, professional services, telecommunications, and real estate.

Nelson, recognized for “Employment & Labor,” is co-chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice’s ERISA & Employee Benefits Litigation Group. He represents employers and ERISA plan fiduciaries in matters concerning ERISA compliance, fiduciary responsibility, collective bargaining, wage and hour, employee benefits, safety, discrimination, wrongful termination, and other labor and employment issues.

Meier, selected for “Government Contracts,” has deep experience in regulatory affairs and governmental litigation, representing corporations and individuals doing business in California. He primarily represents national companies in the health care, telecommunications, energy, transportation, and financial services sectors. His practice focuses on government contracts, regulatory enforcement, and rulemaking matters involving federal, state, and local regulation; procurement; bid protests; writs; commercial litigation; contract negotiations; audits; government investigations; complex false claims matters; and public records and conflicts of interest disputes.
