Baker & McKenzie LLP issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.
Baker McKenzie announced that Jennifer (“Jen”) Kirk has re-joined the Firm as a partner in its California offices, based in San Francisco. Jen was, until recently, Director of Global Equity Management at Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company.
Jen will be a member of the Compensation group, which is part of the North America Employment & Compensation Group at Baker McKenzie. This was also her focus when she was a partner at the Firm between 2006 and 2011 and as an associate between 2001 and 2006. She will advise clients on the tax and regulatory issues related to the implementation and maintenance of global share plans and other incentive compensation arrangements.
At Alphabet, Jen managed a global team of 13 employees located in the Bay Area and EMEA regions and was responsible for the operations, administration, education and global compliance of Alphabet's equity-based compensation plans. In addition, Jen managed the Trading Operations team for the pre and post-execution trade lifecycle of Alphabet's investment portfolio.
“Jen is a seasoned Compensation practitioner with a focus on global share plans, an area in which our Firm has long been a market leader,” said Barbara Klementz, Office Managing Partner for the California offices and the chair of the Compensation group. “She has incredibly strong ties within the share plan industry, and her return to the Firm will be a tremendous asset in servicing our clients and continuing to grow our practice."
"In addition to her outstanding experience, Jen brings the client perspective on equity-based compensation matters,” said Colin Murray, North America Chief Executive Officer. "This perspective combined with her tech industry knowledge will deepen our offering to clients."
Jen commented, “I am very excited to return to Baker McKenzie and to work again with my Employment & Compensation colleagues and the entire Baker team. My time at Alphabet has been invaluable and I look forward to bringing my insights from being an in-house practitioner to the Firm.”
Jen received her B.A. from Cornell University in 1993 and her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 1997. She is admitted to practice in the State of California.
