Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that Robert J. Stumpf, Jr. has been elected to the Board of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers (AAAL). AAAL is comprised of approximately 350 appellate specialists from across the country. In addition to his new role with the Board, Stumpf also chairs AAAL’s Membership Committee.

Stumpf joined Sheppard Mullin in 1999. A Certified Specialist in Appellate Law since 1998, Stumpf’s principal areas of practice are appellate law and commercial litigation.
He is a member of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers, former chair of California State Bar Appellate Law Advisory Commission, former chair of the Appellate Courts Committee of the San Francisco Bar Association, a Practitioner Advisor with the Appellate Advocacy Program at Berkeley Law, and a judge pro tem with San Francisco Superior Court. He received his law degree, Order of the Coif, from University of California, Hastings; a master’s degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley; and his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard College.
