GREENBERG TRAURIG LLP: Greenberg Traurig Adds AdTech Privacy Attorney to Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice in San Francisco

Greenberg Traurig, LLP issued the following announcement on Dec. 20.

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP expanded its Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice with the addition of Darren J. Abernethy as of counsel. Abernethy, who joins after serving as senior counsel for San Francisco-based privacy compliance technology company TrustArc, Inc., is a data privacy attorney with more than a decade of experience, including in private practice in Washington, D.C. and as in-house counsel.

Abernethy, who also joins the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice, advises clients on matters related to advertising technology, privacy and data governance, and FTC best practices. He focuses on the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)/ePrivacy, digital advertising, direct marketing, and product counseling.

Deeply involved in the data privacy community, Abernethy is a member of the IAPP Publications Advisory Board, the Future of Privacy Forum’s Location & Ad Practices Working Group, and the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Program Advisory Committee. He earned a J.D. from the College of William and Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University.
