Troutman Pepper Hamilton LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 3.
Two deals in which Troutman Pepper attorneys served as legal counsel have been shortlisted for Project Finance & Risk’s Renewable Energy & M&A Deal of the Year awards.
Short List: Renewable Energy Deal of the Year | Holstein 1 Solar
The Holstein solar project involves a 200 MW solar generation facility in Wingate, Texas. It will power the equivalent of 40,000 homes with over 700,000 solar panels across 1,300 acres. At the time, the project was one of the first solar hedge deals to reach financial close in the U.S. market.
Several attorneys from Troutman Pepper’s Capital Projects and Infrastructure and Renewable Energy practices advised Duke Energy Renewables on the transaction, including partners John Leonti, Justin Boose and Christine Byrnes, counsel Clayton De Arment, and associates Charlie Suessmith and Andrew Thurmond.
Short List: M&A Deal of the Year | Greenskies Renewable Energy
In 2019, Greenskies Renewable Energy, a leading developer of commercial and industrial solar power facilities, was acquired by JLC Infrastructure, a joint venture between Loop Capital and Magic Johnson Enterprises. It was JLC’s first major investment in renewable energy and included a portfolio of more than 600 MW of solar projects.
Troutman Pepper partners Todd Coles and Scott Rickard served as seller’s counsel advising Greenskies in the transaction, which closed on December 24, 2019.
