Jones Day issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.

Ka-on Li, a partner in Jones Day's Intellectual Property Practice resident in the Firm's Silicon Valley Office, is among the Daily Journal's "Top 40 Under 40" for 2020. The Top 40 Under 40 list celebrates the achievements of lawyers under the age of 40 in California.

Ms. Li works closely with clients to successfully design, structure, and execute technology and commercial transactions to achieve high-stakes business objectives. She synthesizes the requirements of technical, legal, and business stakeholders to lay the groundwork for partnerships that can thrive in the ever-changing technology space. Ms. Li drafts and negotiates contracts involving outsourcing, IP commercialization, distribution arrangements, software and cloud-related matters, infrastructure projects, and manufacturing and supply services for clients active in the technology, medical, pharmaceutical, life sciences, food and beverage, retail, consulting, financial, consumer goods, telecommunications, education, media, and entertainment fields.

A representative example of Ms. Li's experience is her work representing NVIDIA Corporation on its $6.9 billion acquisition of Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. She advised on intellectual property, technology, and commercial aspects on the due diligence of Mellanox and on the negotiations of the transaction documents. In addition, she recently co-led the drafting and negotiation of a cross-license agreement, brand framework agreement, and collaboration agreement in connection with SunPower Corporation’s proposed sponsored spin-off of its solar panel production operations into a new public company.

Ms. Li also has provided her services pro bono to numerous charitable organizations and B Corps both in Silicon Valley and beyond that are increasingly reliant on technology.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Li devotes a substantial amount of time to efforts on behalf of How Women Lead, an organization that promotes increased female representation in corporate boardrooms.
